THE POSITION

If you are looking for a rewarding career in Human Services and you want to make a difference in the lives of others by providing benefits to Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable citizens, then Income Maintenance Caseworker is the job for you. The employee in the Income Maintenance Caseworker position is responsible and accountable for determining eligibility for financial assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, LIHEAP, Nursing Home Care and Waivers as well as any additional programs the Department of Human Services administers for applicants/recipients in accordance with state regulations. DHS provides excellent benefits, contractual pay increases, paid holidays and leave entitlements, opportunity for advancement and shift selection in addition to a great work environment.

This is permanent full-time employment. Positions are filled in Department of Human Services Offices across the Commonwealth.

Travel: As needed
Overtime: As needed
Shift work: No
Hours of work: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned work duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In Counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.

County Preference:
Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Armstrong County. If no eligible candidates who live within Armstrong County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

After completion of an eight (8) week training program, you will be completing your Income Maintenance Caseworker duties in an office setting environment.

Major duties include determining eligibility for financial assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, LIHEAP, Nursing Home Care, and Waivers as well as any additional programs the Department administers for applicants/recipients in accordance with state regulations. In order to accomplish these duties, you will interview customers either over the phone, or in person, review policy, data enter information into an automated eligibility determination system as well as perform manual calculations. This includes all job functions that are necessary to perform these duties with or without reasonable accommodations. The majority of the Income Maintenance Casework (IMC) workload consists of interviewing customers, reviewing policy and the use of automated eligibility determination systems. A limited number of programs still require manual determination of benefits. Job duties are carried out under the general supervision of an Income Maintenance Casework Supervisor.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HAIR STYLIST:

  • Shampoo, cut, dye, and style hair.

  • Give clients advice on how to maintain a hairstyle or look.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, disinfected, and in alignment with applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to all protocols implemented by PMH related to wearing supplied Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), cleaning, and disinfection.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Participation and Behavioral Supports.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF HAIR STYLIST:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Cosmetology license, required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, required.
  • Ability to stand for long period of time, required.
  • Successfully pass background check, required.
  • Experience providing hair services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and behavioral health needs, preferred.
