Job Description Summary
Under general supervision, performs water meter readings, meter repair/replacement and other service orders.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Reads meters daily for utility billing.
Checks the leak indicator when reading meters to detect any malfunction.
Enters trouble codes into handheld device; compiles data to assist Director of Finance, Senior Meter Reader and the utility billing staff.
Performs meter turnoff/turn-ons as may be appropriate.
Observes potential City Code Compliance violations and provides reports to other City departments for action.
Cleans meter cans; washes and cleans the assigned City vehicle.
Supports the relationship between the City of Plainview and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent; AND one year of experience in water meter operations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
License and Certification - Possession of a valid Texas driver's license. Physical Requirements
Work is performed primarily in an outdoor work environment. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions and potential physical harm.
